INFORMATION & REQUIREMENTS
FOR WEDDINGS THROUGH THE JOURNEY
Congratulations on your engagement and upcoming wedding!
In order to serve our church community as effectively as possible, we require that you be a member of The Journey in order to be married by our pastor. Membership requires that both you and your fiance are regularly attending services, serving in one of our ministries, and are both members of our church family (sorry, no exceptions).
We believe that Jesus is the most important part of your marriage, and that marriage is meant to bring you and your spouse closer to Jesus. We also believe that God is the Creator of marriage, and so we look to Him on how to keep marriages together.
We want you to have a solid foundation on Jesus for starting out your marriage, which is what our membership classes help bring out, and if you have children, we want Mom and Dad to be able to point them to Jesus. Being part of a church is the backbone of spiritual direction for children; but what parents do at home is the foundation of faith.
PRE-MARITAL COUNSELING
Because it is our greatest desire to help prepare and equip you for a Christ-centered, life-long marriage, we require all couples being married by Jared to attend a minimum of 3 pre-marital counseling sessions with a designated mentor couple. Mentor couples are members of The Journey who have had successful, faith-based marriages.
